With a tight schedule and nine high-end flats to deliver, Kearns Development Ltd needed the installation and connection of the gas network and meters to be a smooth and efficient as possible. Park Road in Uxbridge is a small but perfectly formed development of nine modern flats built by Kearns Development Ltd. The flats are well appointed with a contemporary finish and are located close to the local amenities including shops, schools, restaurants, a wide range of leisure facilities, and green open spaces. The area benefits from excellent transport and commuter links to Oxford and Central London, with Heathrow Airport also just 20 minutes away.
A challenging development, the Park Road site required connection to the distribution network and excavation to lay 25 metres of gas main in a congested footpath adjacent to a busy main road leading to a roundabout connecting to the M40. In total, Express Utilities laid 51m of mains pipework to supply nine external domestic meters at ground level.
As often happens with fast-moving projects the plans changed a little during the course of the build and the locations of some of the meter boxes were not as initially indicated. Express Utilities was able to raise and submit variations and move the meter boxes accordingly. From starting on site, to the last meter being fitted, took just eight weeks in total.
One of the reasons Kearns selected Express Utilities for the job was the great working relationship they have with the project manager, and the quick and efficient service they knew would be the result. Express Utilities always ensures direct contact between the developer and its supervisor or project manager. This means that all involved are fully aware of progress and any changes. Express Utilities’ efficient planning department handover was of particular benefit to Kearns in terms of meeting the build schedule.
